Fix cPanel LMTP error after RCPT TO  Print this Article

If you are getting an "LMTP error after RCPT TO" error message when users send emails to your forwarded email address, then verify that the forwarded email address was not created at some point in time and then deleted as a regular mailbox (POP3/IMAP) before.

Do that by deleting the entry at /home/USERNAME/mail/DOMAIN/MAILPREFIX

For example, if the issue was with support@webhosting24.com and the username was wh24com, then delete the entry:

/home/wh24com/mail/webhosing24.com/support

Only do this if you're using forwarder only, and there is no mailbox for that user. Adjust accordingly if you have multiple /home-partitions (home2, home3 etc.).
